Scholarships

The Educational Trust Board awarded 11 scholarships worth a total of fourteen thousand dollars for the 2008/2009 school year. The recipients are below:

Dear Colleen,
     Thank you and the Educational Trust Board members for granting me a scholarship for the coming school year.  The funds to help me with college costs have been and will be very much appreciated.  I am pleased to accept the scholarship and will comply with the requirements.  Two weeks ago, I started work as a wrangler at the Latigo Ranch and plan to continue with this job until the season ends in the fall. Also, I enjoyed the opportunity to participate in a DRA Wrangler Certification program held at Bar Lazy J last week.  I will start back with my college work right after that and hope to attend the winter DRA convention Arizona in January.  I’ve enclosed my most recent record of college work.  You will find that I finished the required number of credits for the 2007-2008 scholarship.  The program that I am pursuing requires 120 semester credit hours, and I have now completed testing for 63 credit hours.  If I were enrolled in a conventional program, I would be a junior for the 2008-2009 academic year. Thank you for your support of my education as I pursue the career goal of operation our guest ranch someday.

Dear Dude Ranchers’ Educational Trust,

            Thank you so much for the generous scholarship you have awarded to myself and others.  This scholarship will allow me to continue with my degree in Resort Recreational Management.  I will be focusing all my efforts on learning all that I can so that I may return to the guest ranching industry as an asset to that industry.   Your investment in education is a noble one that will benefit generations to come.  Thank you again for your support.

Dear Education Trust Board,

            Thank you for considering me for The Dude Ranchers’ Educational Trust Scholarship.  It is a privilege to once again receive such a generous offer from you.  Last year it relieved such a financial burden and allowed me to focus my efforts on my education.  I am looking forward to once again being able to work hard to further my degree in Veterinary Medicine.  I also look forward to always being involved with the Dude Ranches.

Dear Dude Ranchers Association Members-

            Thank you very much for selecting me to receive the Dude Ranchers’ Scholarship.  I appreciate your support and the chance to follow my dreams. Growing up on a Dude Ranch I have learned much about the business.  I know that is takes hard work and dedication.  I can’t wait to start in to the business with a fresh new look and ideas from my degree. I look forward to my next 3 years in college.  This fall is my sophomore year and I will be attending MSU in Bozeman, Montana.  My major is equine/business.  I will be happy to keep you updated on my progress.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation in selecting me to receive this generous donation.  It has eased my transition from working full-time to becoming a full-time student.  Going back to school has been a goal of mine for quite some time, and your aid has made that a reality.  My new goal is to graduate with honors and contribute my knowledge towards benefiting the Agriculture industry.

I have a great interest in agriculture and find tremendous excitement and satisfaction in the agricultural world.  I plan to graduate with a degree in Agbusiness and a minor in Animal Science in Spring 2009.  Thank you for your commitment to higher education and for making this scholarship available.  I appreciate being able to be a recipient of this scholarship and am excited for the opportunity it provides for me.
