***** APPLICATION PROCEDURES AND REQUIREMENTS *****
1. The applicant must have a tie to dude ranching, be a US or Canadian citizen,
must be a full time student. (For example; minimum 12 semester hours for someone taking a 4 year bachelors degree). The applicant must have completed at least 20% of the course required credits for the degree or certification. This degree or certification should be beneficial to the dude ranch industry.
2. All applications must be submitted to The Dude Ranchers’ Educational Trust office, postmarked by March 15, 2009 for the 2009/2010 funds. A current transcript must accompany the application. Applications postmarked after March 15, 2009 will not be considered.
3. An essay of several paragraphs on why you have an interest in a dude ranch career or employment on a dude ranch, what you expect to gain from dude ranch employment, and your goals for the future must accompany the application. Please use a separate sheet.
4. A personal telephone interview is required. Please include the phone number where you can be reached for an interview.
5. It is the duty of the applicant/recipient to submit his or her grades at the end of each semester or quarter. A minimum Grade Point Average of 3.0 is preferred to obtain and maintain the scholarship.
6. Each recipient is required to work on a Dude Ranchers’ Association member ranch or the DRA office the season before the receipt of each scholarship they are applying for.
7. The scholarship will only be granted to students attending a fully accredited school that gives a degree or certificate that could lead to a career in the Dude Ranching Industry.
